Information Technology

Oriental Institute of Science & Technology (OIST) Bhopal, a pioneer institute of the oriental group science 1995, is a self-financed premier educational institution imparting quality technical education in seven branches of engineering and five PG programs. OIST is about 9 Km from Bhopal railway station and is about 20 Km from international airport. The Department of Information Technology was established in year 2001 with an intake of 60 which was further increased to 90 in year 2006 and 120 in the year 2007. The Department was accredited in 2007 by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The department has very experienced faculty to provide quality teaching/learning. The department always motivates the students to become competent as per industry needs.

The department has qualified, experienced faculty. Our faculty members aim at delivering top class education by blending their rich research experience with classroom teaching. The teaching-learning process comprises class-room teaching, along with tutorials, practicals, seminars, viva-voce, minor/major projects, group discussion, expert lectures, industrial visits, industrial training and workshops. The teaching aids include overhead projector (OHP), LCD / DLP, e-campus software and a series of audio-visual CDs related to various subjects developed by NPTEL.

To groom the students to work as a computing professional, utilizing the knowledge acquired in the Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology.
To build up engineered solutions that is well-recognized and suited for the requirements of public and private sectors.
To teach students various designing, analyzing and creating Software and Technologies which will provide solutions to the social and real world problems.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

To understand and implement the basics of hardware, networking, web technology and information security to become a successful IT engineer.
To use skilled practices of programming, object-oriented programming and algorithm design to become a successful professional.
To provide effective solutions to real life problems using data structures, database management system, artificial intelligence, and information storage.
To understand and develop efficient projects by using software engineering, system engineering, communication skills and programming languages.

B.Tech

Most engineering programs start with general courses in sciences, and then migrate to specialized courses for the disciplines. With this approach, the B.Tech (IT) program can be divided broadly in two halves.

The first half focuses on building the foundations, and is highly structured.
The second part is for developing the skills and knowledge of the students in various topics – computing and application domains. This part also provides limited specializations, and different students may follow different paths and take different set of courses in it.

Our objective is to produce quality Engineering graduates by imparting top-notch education in the field of Computer Science and to lead them in successful career industries or entrepreneurial endeavours.

Eligibility : - Based on candidates’ performance in JEE Mains, on All India Level. - Passed 12th examination with Maths - Min. 45% (40% for SC/ST/OBC) in B.Sc. - Min. 45% (40% for SC/ST/OBC) in Diploma in Engg.

The Information Technology department has well equipped Laboratories. We have 5 labs with more than 250 computer systems all with latest configuration. Each computer System has Internet facility. The department has sufficient number of Classrooms, Tutorial Room for Lecture delivery. The department has its own Departmental Library and Lecture Theater. The department also has sports facility. For Presentation & Lecture Delivery, the department also has LCD Projectors.
