Computer Science Engineering

NBA Accredited

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was founded in 2002 and has since maintained a strong track record of delivering high-quality academic achievements. Consequently, numerous alumni have secured positions in prestigious multinational corporations both within India and internationally. Students from various regions seek enrolment in the department for its excellence in providing top-tier education in Computer Science and Engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At Oriental College of Technology (OCT), our Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program holds NBA accreditations, ensuring global recognition of the degree.

The Department boasts modern infrastructure and advanced computing amenities backed by high-speed Ethernet connectivity. It is further enriched by vibrant student chapters like the "Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)" and "Computer Society of India (CSI)" as well as several “Student Clubs” and an NPTEL Local Chapter, all contributing to its dynamism. Emphasis is placed on encouraging students to stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies, with numerous seminars and workshops organized to facilitate their learning and skill development in this regard.

The department is staffed with a team of exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable faculty members, supported by excellent teaching and learning resources. Our faculty members are dedicated to providing high-quality education by integrating their extensive research expertise with classroom instruction. The teaching and learning approach encompasses a diverse range of methods including lectures, tutorials, hands-on practical sessions, seminars, projects, group discussions, guest lectures from experts, industry visits, internships, and workshops, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience for students.

B.Tech

Typically, engineering programs commence with foundational courses in the sciences before transitioning into specialized courses tailored to specific disciplines. Following this framework, the B.Tech (CSE) program can be broadly divided into two main phases.

  • The initial phase of the program is dedicated to establishing fundamental concepts and principles and is characterized by a highly structured curriculum.
  • In contrast, the latter phase is geared towards enhancing students' proficiency in diverse computing and application domains. This segment also offers opportunities for limited specialization, allowing students to pursue unique paths and select customized course sets.
  • Our overarching goal is to cultivate high-caliber engineering graduates through the delivery of exceptional education in Computer Science, equipping them to excel in various industries or entrepreneurial ventures.
Course Mode: Full Time Course Duration: 4 Years
Seats: 300 Entrance Exam: JEE Main exam
Eligibility:
Admission to the program is determined by candidates' performance in the JEE Mains examination on a national scale.
Additionally, applicants must have completed their 12th-grade examination with Mathematics as a subject.
Furthermore, a minimum score of 45% (with a relaxation to 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) is required in B.Sc. programs or Diploma in Engineering for eligibility.

M.Tech

A post-graduate degree, M. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering is a must if you aspire to set yourself apart from the anonymous mass of "computer professionals" and to assume a leading role in transforming the industry, be it through research, advanced development, teaching, or entrepreneurship.

The main outcomes of the M Tech (CSE) program is to improve the following attributes in students:-

  • An ability to undertake original research at the cutting edge of computer science & its related areas.
  • An ability to design, develop and evaluate new computer based systems for novel applications which meet the desired needs of industry and society
  • An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility

In the long run, our role in the world of computing will be defined not by the export of inexpensive commodity services, but by the quality of intellectual property that we produce and own through core technology development.

M.Tech - Computer Science & Engineering

Student Chapters

ACM Chapter Members 2021 FINAL

About Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Chapter:

Student Chapters provide unique opportunities for networking, mentoring and bonding over common interests. They provide support both within the student community and to local communities outside the institution.

ACM brings together computing educators, researchers, and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources, and address the field's challenges. As the world’s largest computing society, ACM strengthens the profession's collective voice through strong leadership, promotion of the highest standards, and recognition of technical excellence. ACM supports the professional growth of its members by providing opportunities for life‐long learning, career development, and professional networking.

Founded at the dawn of the computer age, ACM’s reach extends to every part of the globe, with more than half of its nearly 100,000 members residing outside the U.S. Its growing membership has led to Councils in Europe, India, and China, fostering networking opportunities that strengthen ties within and across countries and technical communities. Their actions enhance ACM’s ability to raise awareness of computing’s important technical, educational, and social issues around the world.

About SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter:

The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a project funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), provides e-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Management and Humanities. NPTEL has been offering self-study courses across engineering, humanities and science streams for more than a decade. These are available at: http://nptel.ac.in.

The courses hosted on SWAYAM are in 4 quadrants

  • Video lectures.
  • Specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed.
  • Self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes.
  • Online discussion forum for clearing the doubts.

Courses delivered through SWAYAM are available free of cost to the learners, however learners wanting a SWAYAM certificate should register for the final proctored exams that come at a fee and attend in-person at designated centres on specified dates. Eligibility for the certificate will be announced on the course page and learners will get certificates only if these criteria are matched. Universities/colleges approving credit transfer for these courses can use the marks/certificate obtained in these courses for the same.
